October 2011

Well we did it; we survived the first month of school.  Like I mentioned it to many of the new families it takes about a month for the children to get settled in.  I must say that we are very pleased with the way that everyone has done.  All of the children are on task and everyone is progressing at their own speed.

Please keep in mind how your child is dressed for school each and every day.  Monday’s we have art and Friday’s we have gym.  Please dress them appropriately for these days, along with the weather.  The children do go outside as the weather permits.  Even though they just hop in and out of the car getting to school, they may need a jacket to go outside, as the weather changes so will the clothing they need to have. If you have not sent in a spare change of clothes please make sure to do so.  Also check what you sent in a month ago, as it may not be weather appropriate now.

As many of you know, we are not able to take the children on field trips do to their age. So our class has been meeting up at Apple Charlie’s in New Boston each year.  This year it will be Saturday, October 15th. at 2 o’clock.  In the past they gave us a group rate for hayride, cider, doughnuts and a small pie pumpkin.  I have just called and they will not be able to do it that way this year.  What I will do is contact them once we have a rough estimate of how many adults and children will be there and get rates on everything.  This is a wonderful way for all of us to get together and get to know one another.  So let me know if you will be able to attend.

I would like to thank Scott Sly (Layton’s dad) for waxing the classrooms just before school started and my husband Bob, my son David and daughter Bobbie for helping with returning items to classrooms, some additional scrubbing and waxing the hallway.  I would like to thank the Pellegrino family and Transportation Services, Inc for bringing in the semi-truck for viewing.

If your child is not in the room at the beginning of class, 8:45 and 12:45 you will need a tardy slip. Please make sure to give yourself and child enough time to use the bathroom and get everything hung up before that time.

As a reminder PLEASE DO NOT leave or enter through the doctors parking lot. Enter from Manning.  I have seen our classroom parents leaving at the end of the day and turn right to exit through the doctor’s parking lot. This is for his patients use not ours. Please respect this and using Manning Street.  If the barriers are blocking the parking lot, then you need to park out by the front of the Church and walk around. Do not park against the barriers.

We will be starting Pizza Day (once a month) along with class parties. For those of you who volunteer for these days, keep in mind that siblings or other children are not allowed. You are here to benefit the children in the classroom.

Our Halloween/Harvest Party will be on Friday, October 28th. The party will be in the A.M.  If your child does not attend class on Friday or in the morning, you will need to “switch” another day (or P.M.). Please see me about switch days. I will be posting a signup sheet for treats, volunteer and food about 2 weeks before the party. Also a reminder that accessories to costumes do not need to come to school, a good rule is that if a child needs to carry something, leave it home.  Also make sure your child’s name is on the costume, as we will change back into street clothes after the party.

The Food Drive for the food pantry is still going on; please drop off anything that you may send in, in front of the Specials Classroom.  The drive will go through the 19th. of this month. Take a look at what we have collected and lets double, triple or more the amount of food already collected. The shelves at the pantry are picked clean on a weekly basis; let’s do our part.

Thank You,

Mrs. Millie and Mrs. Louisa

May Newsletter

Welcome back from our Easter/Spring Vacation.  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  Once again we would like to thank all of you for helping make our Easter Party  such a wonderful time.  I know the last sentence has the word Spring in it and yet, I do not believe we have had much of one.  We have roughly 30 plus school days left and the time is flying by at a rather rapid pace.  I honestly hope we get everything done that we hope to.  I would like to state how very proud of each and every student in the classroom .  Everyone has grown and learned so very much this school year, and have all worked so hard.  Their individual accomplishments have been absolutely amazing.

Thank you to everyone who helped distribute and also for all the orders from the Dearborn ham fundraiser.  We raised over $600.00.  Our school’s fundraising is very important for all of us.  The Parents’ Guild uses these funds for varied reasons such as helping each classroom with items they need and the teacher may want.  Many of the special presentations are paid for with these funds also.  So, yes, your child does receive the benefit for all that you do.

And I thought that I was a huge Detroit Red Wing hockey fan. Hats off to Sarah and Brian ( Wyatt’s) parents.  Over the Spring break, they went to Tucson to visit with her parents.  They purchased tickets to game 4 of the first round and believe it or not they took two octopi with them  on the plane and managed to get them into the game.  After successfully tossing both onto the ice, they were escorted from the game and spent the remainder outside of the arena watching the game.  Go Wings-Sarah and Brian!

April 2011

Well the calendar may say that it is Spring outside, so why are we still seeing winter coats?  Please remember to dress your child accordingly as they will be going outside more and more.

If you have not enrolled your child for the 2011-2012 school year please get your paperwork returned to the office to guarantee your spot, as we are now open to the public for enrolment.  Many of you have mentioned the summer program to me that this is something that you will be interested in.  Make sure to get the questionnaire filled out and returned to the office.

I would like to welcome our newest student to the class, Angel just started with us and she is attending 5 days in the afternoon.  Angel and Richie are cousins.  Thank you to Richie’s family for recommending us.  Parents remember if you recommend someone and they enroll at our school, you will receive a discount on your tuition.

Our Spring Party will be on Friday, April 15th during the a.m. session of school.  If your child does not attend on either Fridays or the morning this will need to be a switch day.  Please see me in advance to work on your child switching times.  We have 16 students and the signup sheet for the party is on our classroom door.   If you would like to send in a treat to help fill up our Easter baskets, please have them turned into the classroom by Wednesday, April 13th so that we may get the baskets assembled before the party.

I cannot believe that when we come back from spring break we only have roughly eight weeks of school left.  Don’t ask me where the school year has gone! I can tell you I am very proud of the many accomplishments all of the kid’s have made this year.

The week of April 4-8 there will be no scrip orders due to the company being shutdown, but don’t forget to order your scrip for the Easter Holiday.  You can order it for yourself to do the shopping, or for extra little treats for the baskets.

We want to thank the Parents’ Guild for sponsoring “Read Across America Day” in March.  Thank you, also, to Mrs. Gamet and Mrs. Lisa for preparing the wonderful snacks for the children that day.  Mr. Jeff Hunter was kind enough to bring in his blue and gold macaw for a special presentation.  Thank you, Mr. Hunter!

February Newsletter

Well everyone I must say that not one of you mentioned or noticed that I did not send out a newsletter for the month of January. I guess I must be allowed to miss one a year.

Congratulations go out to the Gowda Family in our classroom; Pranavi is the proud big sister to Shiven and Viren born on January 4th.  Everyone is doing fine and I must say that the babies are adorable!

We have made it through the month of January and we are just a little closer to spring, and we didn’t even have a party. Don’t worry, Friday February 11th. will be our Valentine class party. We are planning on Love around the World party.  So if you have a favorite family recipe from your heritage, sign up. These items can be from a main dish to deserts. I will place a sign up sheet on the door soon.

Speaking of soon, our Parent/Teacher conferences will be Wednesday February 2nd. A sign up sheet will also be posted on the door.

Just a reminder of some of the fundraisers that we have done and their outcome. Box Tops-over $250   Juice bags- $20   Olga’s $182.80 Wendy’s $101.25   Dearborn Ham- $1029.  Avon-$350 and the 3-digit lottery-$5,500. Thank you to those that have helped by selling, sorting and working very hard to make all of these fundraisers such a success.  And thanks to all of you who helped with Santa Shop and Pizza Wednesdays.

Please, please, please remember to put your child’s name on tags of  hats, gloves, boots, coats, lunchboxes and anything else you send in with your child.  We have had a few items disappear and some just show up, so the names on the inside of everything will help.

Please keep in mind that if your child is going to be absent, you need to contact the office.  Many of you will send me a text and I appreciate that, but you still need to contact the office directly.

December 2010

Hoping all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I shopped and shopped and shopped a little more.  My daughter and I had a wonderful weekend and I’m glad it’s done. And I shopped with Scrip the entire weekend in another state! It sure came in handy and even when I over spent (who me) the scrip gobbled up a lot of the cost.

The month of December is going to be crazy but fun.  We have roughly three weeks until our Christmas party and lots and lots to do in between.

I would like to thank all of you who sent in all the wonderful food for our Thanksgiving feast and for those who helped during the day.  If it were not for all the help from all of you, the parties would not be quite as successful as they are.

Our Christmas party will be Wednesday December 22 in the am.  This will be a switch day for any child who does not attend in the morning or on Tuesdays.  A signup sheet (fireplace) will be posted on the door this week for party foods.  In the past we have hung stockings in the classroom.  This year we are doing something a little different yet the same concept.  You will see it soon.  We have 15 students in the classroom, six boys and nine girls.  If you would like to send something in to help fill up the stockings please have items sent in by Monday December 20th.  Items can be gender specific, just not child specific.  Usually it is a lot of work sorting everything and getting the stocking just so, that is why we ask for the items early.

We would like to thank the Parents Guild and Nora Chapa Mendoza for the wonderful presentation of the “Day of the Dead”, and to all the families that are selling the 3-digit lottery tickets.  This is one of the most successful fundraisers that we do.  Don’t forget the Dearborn Ham fundraisers are due on December 9th.  We would also like to thank Dr. Rafiq (Feroz’s Mom) for sending off all the Halloween Candy that so many turned in to the troops overseas.  Thanks to everyone who participated in Wendy’s and Olga’s night out.  It was nice to see so many of the families at Olga’s last month.  It would be great to see more of you next week at Olga’s.  Last but not least to Alesha Caselli for taking over the Box Tops job.  We have already earned over $300 this year.

As soon as we get the list of wishes from the Adopt -A-Family, they will be posted outside of the classroom.  We are still collecting funds within the classroom for these families.  And don’t forget our Babysitting night on December 10th. The hours are from 6-10 and the children may come to school in pajamas, bring blankets, pillows or sleeping bags.  All proceeds also go to our Adopt-A- Family.

Welcome back Mrs. Wendy, we’ve missed you!

Now for all of our dates to remember:                    Happy Birthday’s:

Parents please keep in mind that class begins at 8:45, please try to have your child in the room at that time.  Remember that the lovely weather is constantly changing, please dress your child accordingly.  They do go outside whenever possible!

Happy Holidays

Wishing each and everyone a blessed and joyous holiday season,

Mrs. Mille and Mrs. Louisa

November 2010

As I was leaving the classroom this past week, I made a comment that I needed to bring my notes home so that I could type up the October Newsletter.  Wow, then it hit me that it’s the November News letter. Can anyone figure out where the time has gone?  Mrs. Louisa was teasing me that my mind never stops.  I told her to look at it this way, when we come back to school on Monday after Halloween we have roughly three weeks until the Thanksgiving break and the same for Christmas.  So the way I look at it is, we should be talking about January.  Since we have two months jam packed, this letter may be a little overloaded. So get your calendar out and start marking down all the dates.

One of the first items I would like to mention is the weather.  It is changing daily on us and everyone needs to dress accordingly.  If the temperature is above 32 degrees, the children will be going outside for recess.  Hats, scarves, gloves, and coats are just a few items you may want to make sure your child has.  A lot of girls like wearing dresses in class, so you may want some type of covering on their legs since it is getting cooler.  The school must have a note from a doctor or parent if a child is not allowed to go outside.  This means that the child will be spending their recess time inside in the office.

Illness: If your child is sick, please keep them home.  For example, if your child has run a temperature, they need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.  This does not mean 24 hours while on a fever reducing medicine. Please refer to the Policy Manual for specific rules about conditions.  Also if your child is out for illness or anything please contact the office and let them know.  The school phone number is 734-675-8280.

Pizza Wednesdays will begin in November.  So if your child would like to order pizza for lunch that day, the cost is $3.00 and you would not need to pack a lunch.  If your child does not stay a full day, am or pm only students your child may stay for lunch and for recess that day. You will need to pay for the pizza and an additional charge of $5.00 will be billed on your monthly statement.  If this is something that you would be interested in we will need to be informed by 9:00 am that morning so that we can insure we have adequate staffing for each class.  Also we have a signup sheet posted outside of the classroom for volunteers to help that day with getting lunch ready, working in a classroom and helping with recess.  Anyone who does volunteer will receive a $5.00 credit on their account.  You must be on the signup sheet and have been contacted to volunteer.  There is also no guarantee as to which room you will be working in.

Within the next few months the school will be doing a few different types of fundraising and it may feel like it is coming at you all at once.    Just before Thanksgiving the Dearborn Ham order form will go home so that we may get the orders placed and back just before the Christmas break. It’s a great way to shop for holiday dinner.  We also will be doing the 3 digit lottery.  Each ticket cost $10.00 and that ticket’s number is good the entire month of January. It’s a lot of fun to see who wins and they are great gifts to give for the holidays.  I like to purchase ten to twenty tickets to add to gifts or to place in stockings and keep a few for myself.  Also the Original Works Art Fundraiser will be coming up from Mrs. Heather.  These also make great holiday gifts. And remember Scrip (my favorite way to shop) is always available to order every Tuesday in the office.  And last but not least Mrs. Wendy from the playroom will be doing an Avon fundraiser with the proceeds coming back to our school; thank you for your generous offer!

Starting November 1st we will be collecting any leftover Halloween candy that you may want to get rid of.  In the past we have collected and shipped the candy to different men and women in the service overseas.  This year once we collect the candy, Dr. Rafiq’s dental offices will be shipping all the candy, saving the school the cost.  Both of Feroz’s parents are dentists; Mom’s office is in Woodhaven and Dad’s in Dearborn. Thank you both for the generous offer to ship it for us.

Parents please keep in mind that toys from home are not allowed into the classroom.  Your child will need to keep them in their cubbies and an item or two have come up missing.  Please keep all toys at home to keep them safe.

We also have many thank you’s to send out.  To everyone who sold Macy’s coupons and to those who sold them at Macy’s: Kristen Zannetti, Mrs. Natalie, Mrs.Chey, Cecelia Bencher, Sarah Martin, Kelly Lloyd, Carol Zannetti and Arianna and Briana (friends of the Zanetti’s).  Thank you to all of you who donated to the food drive. Thank you to the Parent’s Guild for providing the pumpkin patch, and Louie Zannetti and friends for delivering all our pumpkins.

We will begin our annual coin drive and having the “Babysitting Night” soon, along with our Adopt- A –Family.  All proceeds go to helping others less fortunate than ourselves.  Each year we find a few families truly in need and do our best to help.  The coin drive and the babysitting night funds help to purchase items that the families may need.  For all the new parents, the babysitting night is a huge success and the kids just love it.  For $20.00 you can bring your child back to school on a Friday night (December 10th) from 6-10pm and the staff babysits.  There are crafts, movies and all sorts of silly fun stuff for the kids.  They like to come in with pajamas, sleeping bags and pillows. We supply dinner and lots of fun.  It’s a great shopping night for parents or date night and all proceeds go to help families in need.

Now for all the dates to remember:

November- Avon Fundraiser

November 3rd-Pizza Day, Parents’ Guild meeting 7 pm

Newsletter – October 2010

October News

Can you believe we’ve made through September already?  If this keeps up I will be writing the June news before you know it, wow!  I feel like we have gotten off to a great start to the new school year.  Everyone is staying on task and the kids are really working hard.  Keep up the good work.

I would like to welcome two new students to our class. First is Maha’s younger sister Fisa who will be our youngest student at 2 1/2 and to Pranavi, her family are friends with the Patel Family.  Welcome everyone.

We also have another tortoise in our room and I am sure you have all seen or heard of Shelby.  We did not set out to get a new tortoise just yet but it just sort of happened.  Quinn’s dad Tim has offered to build Sheldon a permanent habitat in our classroom.  As one thing led to another I was out looking at the cost of items that we would need and I came across a “clearance” tortoise at a local pet store.  She was living in a rather small environment and I found out that the only reason she was clearanced was she had been at the pet store for six months.  Needless to say, I did not purchase any lights and we now have Shelby.  I would like to thank the Gabriel Corporation for donating the trays used inside of the habitat and to Critters Pet Shop in Allen Park for all of their knowledge and discounts on everything that was needed for the habitat. Thank you to the Patel and Rafiq families with helping with the cost of Shelby and Sheldon’s new home, and to Tim for building the home. THANK YOU!

Our Halloween party will be on Friday October 29th during the A.M. session of school.  If your child comes to school in the p.m. or does not attend on Fridays, this will be a SWITCH day. Any p.m. students will come in the morning from 8:30-11:30 and in you need to switch a different day, just let me know in advance.  I will post outside of the classroom a signup sheet for party items about two weeks before the party.

Our class has done an unofficial field trip to Apple Charles in New Boston for the past few years.  This year’s date is set for Sunday, October 10th around 1:00p.m.  Please try to give me a count of how many in your family that will be attending in so that I can let them know.

Monday, October 4th is the first Olga’s Night out.  Hope to see all of you there!  It’s a great fundraiser for the school and a lot of fun to see everyone outside of the classroom.   Please join us if you can; I will try to be there with my family around 6:00. This is the Olga’s on Allen Road in Woodhaven.

Now for dates to remember:

  • October 1-20 Food Drive
  • Monday, October 4th- Olga’s Night Out
  • Tuesday, October 5th. Parents Guild Meeting, 7pm
  • Thursday, October 7th. Happy Birthday Layton
  • Sunday, October 10th-Apple Charlie’s
  • Saturday, October 16th. -Macy’s Shop for a Cause
  • Monday, October 18th. Pumpkin Patch
  • Friday, October 29th. -Halloween Party

All of the fundraising done throughout the school year benefits your child.  The Parents Guild brings in many different activities throughout the year that many children may never experience.  Last year were able to experience ice sculpting, a symphony and a bagpiper just to name a few.  So remember every little bit helps.

An ongoing fundraiser is the selling of Scrip.  I love scrip; it’s gift cards, plain and simple. Mrs. Tracy places the orders every Tuesday and the order comes in on Friday.  I start now with ordering scrip from every pay for the holidays.   I figure out who will be getting gift cards as gifts and where I will be shopping.  Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, I go to Joann Fabrics and I know that  we are going to spend a small fortune!  So I start now ordering scrip so come shopping time, I have all my scrip.

Thank You,

Mrs. Millie and Mrs. Louisa

Newsletter, Sept. 2010

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! For all the returning students and families welcome back, and a special welcome to our new students and familes and Mrs. Louisa.

First, let me introduce myself and Mrs. Louisa our classroom assistant. My name as you know is Mrs. Millie, I have been with our school since the mid 1990′s. My children started out a C.M.C. students 20 years ago. I have been happily married to my husband Bob for 28 years. Our oldest (Miss) Bobbie graduated from Central Michigan University in 2009. She teaches our summer program at the school along with being a substitute teacher for us also. Our son David is currently working full time along with going to Monroe County Community College. Mrs. Louisa is our classroom assistant, as well as also being a former parent of our school. Mrs. Louisa is also happily married to her husband Mauro for 18 years. They have 3 children, Enrico (14), Nina (11) and Valentina (7). Valentina is also a former student from our classroom. Mrs. Louisa spent countless hours helping on many occasions in our room and is very familiar with the way our classroom is run. With a slight shifting in staff this year, we needed a new assistant and I must say that it didn’t take but just a few minutes for me to remember Mrs. Louisa and we are thankful for her to be joining our C.M.C. family.

Classroom times:

8:45 -11:45 (You may drop off as early as 8:30, and pick up as early as 11:30, no later than 11:45)

Lunch 11:30-12:00, Recess 12:00-12:30

12:45-3:45 (You may drop off as early as 12:30 and pick up as early as 3:30, no later than 3:45)

If your child will be staying for lunch for your p.m. child will be coming in early for lunch, you must notify the office by 9 a.m. of that day. We need to know this order to ensure proper staffing.

Any earlier drop-offs or later pick-ups will result in latch-key fees.

Please remember to send in spare clothing for your child, accidents do happen. Dress your child for success! Clothing should be items that they themselves can manipulate. If they are unable to unfasten a certain belt, maybe that belt would be not a good choice. We will help in any way that is needed, yet the goal is for them to be able to deal with their clothing independently. Also keep in mind the weather as you get them ready for school.

If your child is going to be late or absent for school, please call the office and let them know, along with the reason of illness. Our phone number is (734) 675-8280.

Please make sure to complete all school forms as soon as possible and return them to the office, allergy, emergency contact and any medication your child may need.

Our parking lot does get congested easily, please be patient and remember that you can always park in the front of the church. DO NOT enter or exit the parking lot through the doctor’s office parking lot. Also the few parking spaces on the side of the doctor’s office are for their staff only. Please enter and exit off of Manning. Remember to please drive with caution. Occasionally the parking lot will be blocked off for recess. If this is the case you must park in the church parking lot. Do NOT PARK by the barriers.

Please remember that anyone picking up your child must be prepared to show identification at the front desk or office. Anyone not listed on the emergency card will not be permitted to pick up your child until you are contacted and have given permission.

During the class day, children may only be released from the CLASSROOM. If we are outside, playroom or bathroom PLEASE wait for us to return to the classroom.

Sheldon is our class tortoise. He stays at school Monday-Friday and goes home with me on weekends. This year we will be having “Snack with Sheldon” on Wednesdays. A signup sheet will be posted on the classroom door if you would like to send in snack for the entire class for that day. Please pay attention to the fact that will have Morning and Afternoon snack with Sheldon. As of now we will have 11 students for snack on Wednesday.

Our special classes will begin on Monday September 13th. Please dress your child accordingly for that day.

This is it! The last newsletter of the year.   You may have figured out by now that doing the newsletter is not one of my favorite things to do but let’s give credit where credit is due; I don’t think that I missed any this year.

Our class had a 100% turn out for the salmon release and almost everyone made it to the first annual class picnic.  I do believe everyone had a fantastic time.  Thank you Mrs. Kim, Ms. Billie Jo, and all the elementary students for their hard work again this year with the salmon!  Thank you, as well, to Reeling and Healing.  They gave us a great deal on the fish necklaces the children received on Sunday.  It is always fun to get the CMC families together.  And our picnic was a good time for all.   The food was fabulous and plentiful and the children were perfect.  Any leftover juices, cookies, candy and paper products were brought back into the classroom on Monday.  Many have mentioned that we need to get another picnic together over the summer.    It really was nice to be able to sit around and just chat and get to know many of the parents that I don’t get to see on a regular basis.

Parent teacher conferences will be on June 1st and I will place a signup sheet on the door.  There is so much going on before the end of the school year that believe it or not is just around the corner.

June 7th will be the last Olga’s Night out and it would be wonderful to see the entire class show up. I think my family and I will be there around 5:30. So mark your colander and let’s make it 100% for the night out.  Our last Olga’s night out raised $103.00; let’s see if we can double it this time.   Don’t forget that you can order scrip through the office for Olga’s and other great places.  You can also order scrip throughout the summer!

We are taking up a collection in our classroom until the last day of school to help raise the monies needed to rewire our kitchen.  We have been told that the cost would be in the area of $600.00 and remember any donations to the school can be written off on your taxes.

Before I begin thanking everyone throughout the school, I want to thank all of you for making our school year special.  Every party and gathering has been a big success due to all that each of you has done.  I would like to give a special thank you to John and Amy, Charlotte’s parents, for taking on the huge responsibility of putting together all the pictures that I have taken throughout the entire school year.   The Parents Guild deserves another round of applause for all that they have done for each of the teachers throughout the entire year. Recently the kindergarten through sixth grade went to Sibley Gardens for a luncheon with the M&M class; as a great surprise to all, the Parents Guild picked up the bill for all of the children.  Even though it may seem from time to time that there are so many fundraisers going on, this is just a small sample of what the funds are used for.  If you have yet to attend a meeting there will be one more meeting on Tuesday June 1st at 7pm.  Think about the 2010-2011 school year and become involved with our Parents Guild.

I would like to personally thank Mrs. Kim’s class for the outstanding work that all of the students did on our school yearbook (Evan you did a great job on our page).  If you did not order one, there are still a few available in the office for $12.00.  I would also like to thank everyone who had a hand in the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon; not only was the staff lounge decorated absolutely adorable, the food was fantastic!  And thank you to Mandy Patrick for organizing everything along with all your hard work along with Sandy P. (Manasvi’s mom) and Cecelia Bencher.   All of your kind words throughout the entire week truly mean so much, thank you.

Another huge thank you goes out to all of you for helping set up and sending all the yummy cookies for the cookie stroll.  We raised  $1300.00    between the cookie stroll and the cookie dough fundraiser; all the proceeds were donated to Penrickton Center for Blind Children.  Thank you to Tracey Speck for organizing the cookie stroll.  Check out our website (www.creativemontessoricenter.com) for pictures from the cookie stroll, and also of Penrickton.

The Leader Dogs for the Blind visited us twice with some of their dogs and gave a wonderful presentation for all the students.  Thank you again to the Parents Guild for setting this up for us!

If you have not registered for the summer, the forms are in the office.  You can enroll for a minimum of 3 half-days, for at least 7 weeks.  Miss Bobbie will be running the program once again this summer and if I may say so, she does a wonderful job.  If any of you are interested I will be tutoring for a few hours each day; it is a great way for children to continue with their reading and math throughout the entire summer.

May Newsletter

Dear Parents and Families,

A few weeks ago I sent Mrs. Tami a copy of our May Newsletter, and it went something like this-

1. First and foremost- If it’s important read the door.

2. If you helped in any way, Thank You.

3. Happy Mother’s Day.

Needless to say Mrs. Tami is not accepting the newsletter so now I have to write out the full version, yuck!  I will try to look on the bright side that after this, I only have one more that I need to do before the school year comes to an end.

Speaking of the end of the school year, we are looking at roughly 6 weeks of school left and the time should fly by.  It’s kind of like Christmas, you know it’s coming and yet it sneaks up on you each and every time.

I would like to welcome the newest little member to the CMC family. David Douglas was born April 20th. weighing in at 8 lbs. 10 oz. and 22″ long.  Congratulations to Nicholas on being a new big brother and to Mom and Dad.

The Salmon release is Sunday, May 23rd.   Last year we had such a great time and many commented we should of planned to spend more time at the park.  So I was thinking what about a picnic?  The release is at 2 pm. and after all is said and done we could hang out at the park and have a picnic and let the kids play.  Everyone could bring whatever it is that you want for food and drink along with blankets and chairs.  Someone mentioned a dish to pass and if that is the case, I could place a signup sheet on the door( see item # one on first page).

Our summer program will begin June 28th.  and we still have open space available. Miss Bobbie will be teaching the program and this summer’s theme is Michigan.  During the program, I will be tutoring a few hours each day for children to stay in a continuous pattern throughout the summer of reading and math.

Our last Olga’s Night Out raised $86.72, so far we have raised almost $500.00 just for going out to eat.  The Dearborn Ham raised $807.00  with Nicholas being our top seller for the classroom.

The author Angie Kenrick visited our school and read us her wonderful books, I was extremely proud of each and every student in class during her presentation, they listened and responded beautifully, way to go kids!  The Parents Guild brought in Artfully Yours for the children to make a ceramic project, once again thank you for making this possible.  And I would like to thank Mrs. Kim’s class for all their hard work on the yearbook!
